Where do I find the product number of my camera?

Up to Table of Contents

This article gives some background on the product numbers used by Logitech webcam devices and how to find them.

What are product numbers?

Each device carries a product number (or just P/N) that identifies the model of the particular device. This is the so-called 8-level (or 8L) product number and identifies a piece of hardware.

The device’s package also contains a product number, the so-called 9-level (or 9L) product number. It identifies a packaged product.

In general, the same 8L product will be available in several 9L packages. This is due to the fact that even though our products are usually the same world-wide, the box and the packaged materials are localized. Each localization has its own 9L product number.

In the process of product updates the 8L product contained in a particular package is sometimes replaced by a new one. This means that two boxes that carry the same 9L product number may contain different hardware versions with different 8L product numbers.

Are product numbers linked to the USB Product ID (PID)?

As a rule of thumb: 8-level product numbers are, 9-level product numbers are not.

Note that this does not imply that devices with different 8L product numbers cannot have the same PID. In the case of a product update, the PID is maintained but the 8L product number is not.

Where do I find the product number on the box?

The 9-level product number starts with 9… and contains 9 digits. It can be found on the box, usually near the barcode.
